Oh, a home is a place...
« Thread Started on May 4, 2008, 8:31pm »

Anny sat at her desk that day, feeling a bit bored. She hadn't had any new tenants in a while, but hey, this was life. She had to come and sit at this desk and wait, just in case somebody new did arrive. Usually she spent her time with her nose in a book. She'd learned that books were a good escape from the outside world - especially when one had to live with somebody as awful as Horace Skerry. Ah-hem. Not today though; she had a song stuck in her head...

Oh a home is a place to live in.
To eat and sleep and be
With the people you love and care about.
Yes, that's a home to me.

It was an odd tune to be stuck in her head, but hey, she was the resident Realtor of Everblue Springs. She typically worked from her cabin, though, like today. It was more comfortable, and anyway, if somebody did visit the apartment complex first, they'd be given instructions on how to get to her cabin from her lobbyist, Aida Marren.

Anny's cabin wasn't too far from the apartments. All one had to do was to drive toward the lake down Acacia Ave (which was where the complex was) and stop at the sign that said Orcea Cabin. That was where Anny lived. Then all they needed to do was walk right up the dirt path (Anny had loved the fact that it wasn't paved, for some reason) and ring the bell.

Kelsey had been up for quite some time. She'd already showered and changed. Throwing on a pair of ripped blue jeans and a blue tank top. She'd also put on her dark blue and white striped jacket. She'd blow dried her hair and left down. Kelsey had already put on some light make up. She'd grabbed her purse and keys and headed outside. She bit down on her bottom lip as she got into her car, starting the engine she drove down the apartment complex. She spoke with the lobbyist. The lady was helpful, pointing her in the right direction. Seeing as she was in need of some living arrangements. Kelsey thanked the woman before exiting the building. She drove down to the sign that read Orcea Cabin.

Kelsey slowed to the car until it was at a complete stop, then she put it in park. She cut the engine and removed her keys. Then she quickly stepped out of the car and locked the doors, keys in hand. She looked around for the dirt path, she spotted it and began her small trek. Her hands pulled the jacket tighter around her small frame. After doing so, she stuffed her hands into her pockets. She ducked her head a little, to keep it from the wind. After several minutes she spotted a cabin up ahead. She guessed that it was Anny's. She quickened her pace and in no time at all stood before the door. She removed one hand and knocked three times. She waited in silence for someone to answer. There was no reply, no footsteps. She was about to knock again, but decided against it. Instead, Kelsey rang the bell one time before placing her hand back into her coat pocket. She kept her head down and waited.

Meh... what a boring day... again... Anny had just begun drumming her fingers on the desktop when the doorbell rang. Startled, she jumped in her seat. She peeked through the window just beside her door frame. Oh my gosh. A tenant. Smoothing down her hair, she wiped her hands on her sweater, and then threw open the door.

The young woman standing on her front porch looked fairly young; probably her late teens or early twenties - Annyrose wasn't quite sure which. Anny tried to smile, but the frigid January air seemed to have frozen her cheeks. She rubbed her face with her hands. "Hello." she said, extending her hand. "I'm Annyrose. Were you seeking living quarters?" She grinned, then came to her bearings. "Oh! I'm sorry. Come in. You must be freezing out here. It'll be much warmer inside."

The air was crisp and Kelsey could feel the cold of it seeping through her jacket. The tighter she pulled it the more she felt it. She sighed a little. She bit down on her bottom lip and shifted from side to side. After all staying still wasn't helping to warm her at all. No. Not at all. She glanced up as she heard the door click and then slid open. Inside stood a girl. Early twenties, perhaps her mid twenties. Kelsey wasn't all to sure. She smiled though, or at least she tried to anyway.

The spoke, introducing and extending her hand. "Hi, I'm Kelsey Brooks. And yes, I was looking for living quarters. I suppose this is the place?" she questioned. She smiled a bit as the woman finally seemed to understand. "Thank you so much." Kelsey muttered as she slipped past the door and into the room. She glanced around for a moment, removing her hands from her pockets she rubbed them together, creating friction to try and warm them. Her eyes once again found Annyrose.

Ahhh... so the woman's name was Kelsey. "Not a problem. I know how cold winters get around here, believe me." Anny gestured toward a chair in front of her desk. It wasn't one of those wooden, courtroom type ones, thank God. No, Anny had to be sure a tenant was comfortable when searching for living quarters. Waiting for Kelsey was a nice, thick, squishy blue armchair with a suede slipcover.

As she waited for Kelsey to seat herself in the armchair, Anny seated herself in the (amazingly) quite comfortable office chair behind the desk. She pulled open a hand drawer which contained several files. Out of one of these, she pulled out three different colored manila folders; the kind with the brass keys to hold papers in place.

Anny smiled. "I'd ask if you were new to these parts, but since I'm the only Realtor around, I already know the answer. So, are you here on vacation? Or do you plan to stick around for a while?"
